Beware of the Dark Side

Most of my focus was on Breast Cancer Awareness this month. Then I was going to shift my focus to Christmas after that but ended up getting quite a few requests to create a Halloween piece.

I'm so glad those wonderful people suggested I do a Halloween piece because I absolutely love how "Beware of the Dark Side" turned out!

I have been super busy and haven't updated as much as I like. Things should ease up in a couple of weeks and I should be back to business as usual *fingers crossed*

I'm happy to announce that I have several brand new products with more to come!!

I'm happy to announce that I have one of my images "Nen" on fabric! *Yay* How awesome is that?! It is available as an art block which can be used for variety of projects quilting, pillow applique, tote bag design and so much more! Keep your eyes peeled because there will definitely be more to come.

Also now available are my art pendants. Right now two designs have been released with tons of more to come.

So much has happened since my last post.

On May 25, 2010 I became a EBSQ Juried Artists. I am really excited about this. I always was the type of person that create art that suited my heart (and not conform to what's "popular") so to get recognition while still being true to myself is a phenomenal feeling.

In June, my "Ti Zwazo" illustration won an award/Patron's Mention for the Nursery Rhyme show (that means you guys, yes you, took the time to visit and "liked" my illy. So thank you!!

Here's what I've been working on the past few days. I really enjoyed how it turned out. I think from now on I will be offering prints both with and without quotes. Right now I have them both available over at eBay & Etsy.

I just recently found out that I have been accepted by the Academy of Arts University. Words CANNOT describe the level of excitement I'm experiencing. I was hipped to the school by one of my LJ buddies (a phenominal artist) Krisgoat. She RAWKS!

I've been a busy bee working on many different projects.

One of them is a jewelry line. It's slowly coming along...but it's coming along =)

I'm estatic to show you earring designed and created by me. They were soooo much fun to make and I have a cazillion more designs in my head.

Here is a be-you-tiful young napptural (nappy & natural) adorned in a crown of glorious baby locs.

I have highlighted her eye by encapsulating it with a golden detail as to invite you into her soul. The detail around her eye also incorporates an ankh (the Egyptian symbol for eternal life).

The colors found here were purposely selected to invoke calm and serenity.

It felt as though it took FOREVER to complete but I finally got it "done". I put done in quotes because a website is never truly done.

I'm very excited with the way it has turned out. You now can buy prints directly from the site. Which is exciting because not everyone wants to buy via eBay or Etsy or Big Cartel, etc.

Also, I have my original paintings on there. If anyone's interested they can just inquire at their own pace.

As I was going through my task list, more and more ideas kept popping up. So once I get some paintings completed, I will return to working on the website.

Well that's what I have been up too.

Not Enough Hours in the Day

Good Morning,
I have a full day ahead of me. My mind is overloaded with creative ideas. I find when I start this early in the day I tend to get more done. Both Tim and the baby are sleeping. So there's no guilt with time spent away from the both of them. I'm guessing I'm going to have approximately four hours of painting time before the baby's up.

So I'm off to paint.

I will try to be better with posting on Blogger. I've been posting on LiveJournal since 2003 so it just feels more natural to me over there BUT it doesn't mean I can't make room for Blogger.

Whoa, need coffee. I have a feeling I'm not making sense.

I have just been really busy trying to get my art career going (again).

This is what I was made to do, designed to do.

I'm going to put in all the effort that I put in when working for others.

Right now the plan is to do a painting a day until something clicks and the magically forces align.

In the painting there is a woman "...walking down the valley of the shadow of death..." and knows she has nothing to fear.
On the side of her gown is the Ankh (Egyptian symbol of life) and on her sleeves are the numbers 2, 3, representing the Psalm.

My First Post....

I can't believe it took me this long to start a blog here. I had it on my to do list but never got to it. I've maintain one on LJ for a few years but I figured I'd expand.

Well, I go by the name Jaishi and I'm an aspiring artist. I paint everything from abstract, to landscape, to surreal, to fantasy. That's why I say I'm an "aspiring" artist. I don't really stick to one subject when painting. I would loose mind if I just painted 'trees' all day or 'squares' all day know what I mean.

I've notice all the real successful artist tend to paint one thing. When I figure what that one thing is then maybe I can transition from aspiring to successful/professioinal artist.

Well I"m going to go figure out how to add pictures. If I figure it out I'll post my latest painting.
